The trail passes through the area where flysch bedrock meets its limestone counterpart, making all the water sink beneath the surface and continue as underground streams. The trail starts in Divača, passes some collapse dolines and the Škocjan Caves as one of Unesco’s natural heritage sites, and continues all the way up to the village of Artviže, perched on the highest point of Brkini and offering magnificent views. The last stage is a descent to the Reka River.
