The church of the Assumption

In an isolated spot on the river, by the edge of the fertile Vremsko polje, stands the one-time pilgrimage church of the Assumption , with its two bell towers and three naves. The church contains preserved frescoes from the 15th century.


The castle of Školj

On the edge of the gorge of Reka, above the steep cliffs stand the ruins of the castle of Školj, which was first mentioned in the 15th century. It was possibly built prior to that as a medieval manor house.



The Dekleva House in Vremski Britof

Strolling through the villages of Vremska dolina, you cannot avoid the Dekleva House in Vremski Britof, where the Makselnov portal testifies to the former wealth of the family.


The church of St. Thomas

In Famlje, the former Roman station of Famula, you can find a nice spot to rest in front of the church of St. Thomas.


The brothers Bogomir and France Magajna - writers

In Gornje Vreme, in the birth house of the brothers Bogomir and France Magajna there is a memorial room dedicated to the two writers. Children are especially fond of recalling younger brother Bogomir’s story of Brkonja Čeljustnik, a goodhearted wild man who lived in the Škocjan caves


Reka basin - a valley of mills in the past

In the past the Reka basin was known as a valley of mills and sawmills.
